American Paradigm Schools Celebrates the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting of the New Tacony Academy Charter School

Tacony Academy Charter School celebrated the ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony of their highly-anticipated new school serving grades K-8 at 1330 Rhawn Street, Philadelphia 19111. The ceremony included 700 students, the administrative staff, teachers and assistants gathering alongside Senator Mike Stack and Al Taubenberger, President of the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. The Philly Phanatic and several members of the Mummers were also be on hand to join in the celebration.
The event kicked off with an entrance procession of honored guests led by the Mummers and the Philly Phantic through the center of the school gym with all students in grades K-8 seated together. It was followed by the presentation of the Tacony Lion Awards.
The Tacony Lion Award is awarded to those who have made outstanding contributions to the Tacony Academy Charter School and thereby advanced the Charter School Movement in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The award was presented to Councilman Brian O’Neill, State Representative John Sabatina, Jr. and Marty Bednarek, chief executive officer and president of Washington Savings Bank, who has served on the School Board of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia School Reform commission. Mr. Bednarek has also been a significant supporter for quality education in Northeast Philadelphia.
