NATIONAL ALLIANCE WEEKLY UPDATE
April 7, 2017
National Charter Schools Week
National Charter Schools Week is less than one month away! Our toolkit is up (with new content added every day – so check back often) and we are excited to feature the events that you are hosting around the country. We encourage every CSO to host one National Charter Schools Week event in your state and put out one press release. Please contact Vanessa Descalzi at email@example.com to share details about your events.
30 Days of Grad
Thousands of high school students will graduate from charter schools across the country this year – and we want to share their stories. We are looking for stories from charter school graduates who want to share how their charter school experience helped them to succeed. All submissions must include a student-written essay (approximately 500 words) and photo. Please encourage charter schools in your state to submit stories by sharing our #30DaysofGrad webpage and submission form.

ED intends to make approximately 3 awards totaling approximately $d16,000,000 to support methods of assisting charter schools address the cost of acquiring, constructing, and renovating facilities by enhancing the availability of loans and bond financing. Master Class on Communications – Save the Date
Sunday, June 11, 2017, 1:00 PM – 5:30 PM
CSOs lead their sectors and schools through challenging times. With constitutional challenges in such states as Louisiana, Mississippi, and Washington and the defeat of the ballot measure to lift the charter cap in Massachusetts, effective communication and messaging is more important than ever. Schools need more tactical strategies to develop messaging and capture their successes in ways that are compelling to the press, legislatures, and the general public. CSOs are uniquely equipped to provide assistance to schools and help them maintain proactive relationships with local press outlets, develop messaging campaigns, and craft communications strategies tell the schools’ stories. This class will encourage participants to create school-level communications plans to implement in their states.
More information will be available soon!
