Over the past month, 143K Rising families have been contacting Governor Wolf to demand that charter schools receive an equitable share of the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund made available through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
Today, we sent a letter to the Governor reminding him that he as received more than 500 emails from charter supporters asking that he ensure GEER Funds are distributed equitably to districts and charter schools. Attached to this letter was a list of all 500+ charter supporters who have contacted the Governor over the past few weeks. We also shared this letter with state and federal lawmakers, and Secretary Rivera. It is our hope that this pressure will make the Governor and his staff think twice about handing over all of the GEER funds to school districts.
