USDA is hosting a webinar on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at 2:00 PM ET. The webinar is titled Charter Schools and School Meal Programs: Best Practices.

Description: Charter schools serve as many low-income children as traditional public schools. Yet, charter schools have cited challenges and barriers to participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP). These barriers include a lack of equipment and access to kitchen and cafeteria facilities as well as the ability to establish reliable administrative systems to receive NSLP/SBP reimbursements for eligible students. Alex Quigley of North Carolina’s Healthy Start Academy and Chad Miller and Natalie Bryslan of Colorado’s Pinnacle Charter School will provide best practices for overcoming challenges and operating successful School Meal Programs in charter schools.
