We know how important reading skills are to a student’s success in school and Philadelphia’s Charter schools are committed to ensuring that every student leaves 3rd grade with this fundamental skill. Our efforts are paying off and are recognized in a new report from Philadelphia Charters for Excellence comparing the reading proficiency levels of 3rd graders in District vs Charter schools.
In 2017, 50% of the City’s Charter school students exited 3rd grade able to read compared to just 36% of the 3rd graders in a District school. We are so proud to be part of Philly’s network of Charter schools which are dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to reach their full academic potential.
